How will Arizona's housing market be impacted by the southern California fires?
Q. I feel that this will create a movement to Arizona and help with the saturated housing market. I specifically would like to know about the impact to northern Arizona housing market.

A. Northern Arizona is just like California Waiting for the perfect storm. We are in a 10 year drought. Northern Arizona is about as dry as I have EVER seen, and I've lived in Arizona for 41 years. I have already had one California buyer contact me about moving to this great state. However they will NOT move to an area where the threat of wildfire will threaten their home. They are looking in Scottsdale. Hope this helps. Terry S.

What city or town in arizona has the lowest humidity year round?
Q. I am looking to move from hot and humid Long Island to Arizona soon. I have osteoarthritis and my son has respiratory problems. I have lived on Long Island for 44 years and I am so tired of our short summers, high humidity, and tired of my damp smelling basement, automobiles which can get "salt-pitted" mirrors, etc. I want to move out west to a much drier state.

A. May I suggest you consider a few alternatives. While the desert is noted for it's low humidity, it is also known for it's very high temperatures. I have lived in both areas that are humid and deserts and people who move from an area that does not have high temperatures like coastal New York find they do not like the long hot summer temperatures of the desert such as Yuma, Phoenix, Tucson, Las Vegas and other desert locations where low temperatures during the night can often be in the 90s. Higher elevation locations which are nearly as dry but cooler could be more acceptable and worth considering as well. They may not be as large of a city or have the conveniences that you may be used to (I don't know how much value you place in being… [cont.]

Why should the money of Arizona taxpayers cater to the needs of illegals?
Q. Think of how much money is wasted on these people in public schools, health care, prisons and the list goes on... How is that fair to the residents of Arizona? Not to mention crime and all the other negatives.

A. The kidnapping capital of the world is currently Bogota Colombia. Pheonix has become number two - in the world. The crime rates in AZ now match that of NYC. The illegal problem is way way way out of control there.

A. I moved to Phoenix from the Bay Area in Cal. about 10 years ago and found it very intresting especially the politics and how to live in the heat. The highways are very nice and smooth because less traffic, unlike Calif with bad roads. They have nice rest stops on Hwy 10 and they are clean. In the summer you need the AC on all night and the bill is quite high. The pool was warm after 8 am and people try to put cold water into the pool to cool water down. You cannot walk around very far even with water. There is smog in Phoenix but not like L.A. The university is pretty good, ASU, in Tempe just south of Scottsdale where I was. Some people drive fast on the streets but don't get tickets. And they park wherever they want to in a lot. I am used… [cont.]

what is the best affordable suburb in arizona?
Q. i heard it is fountain hills? i am 18. have my high school diploma and im planning to live on my own by working a full time job. i was wondering what is the cost of rent of a studio apartment. what would be the best place for me to live in arizona? in fact what is the cheapest/lowest cost of living state in america, is it texas?
Asked by Someone - Thu Mar 5 15:14:22 2009 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Fountain hills is all old people. Look into Chandler, North Phoenix, Surprise, Anthem, Peoria. These are all right near Phoenix. Yuma is cheaper but it's 2.5 hours from Phoenix out in the desert- it is only 2.5 hours to San Diego though so that's fun! Studio apartments in non ghetto areas are on average 550/month. The cheapest states are most likely south- Texas, Miss, Arkansas, or middle states where no one wants to live- Oklahoma, Kansas. East coast and west coast are expensive.

How long does it take to get from Arizona to California?
Q. My friend is on a plane from Arizona to California. How long will it take her to get here?
Asked by claire - Wed Dec 26 20:24:37 2007 - - 6 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Not very long. A few hours, perhaps? I have flown from Seattle to Phoenix in excess of 20 times (half family here, half family there) and it is about a 2 1/2 to 3 hour flight. The flight from Seattle to Phoenix is shorter than from Phoenix to Seattle (due to the Jet Stream), I think (although I might have it backwards). From San Francisco to Phoenix, I believe it was an hour and a half? Barely time to get tired of a bad book, if I remember. If you know the city, that would help. Try an airline site - any of them should be able to tell you an approximate flight time. www.alaskaair.com

A. Friends now advertise their house in AZ via craigslist. They used to list with a local real estate agent. You do need to check references very carefully and beware the numerous scammers that operate on craigslist. So far they have always had excellent tenants. Theirs is a winter season rental, and they get the entire season's rent and security deposit in advance. So they have no problems with collecting rent. Get the place clean and shipshape, then take digital photos. You can put a couple photos on the craigslist ad, then send more as requested via email. It is also helpful to have tenants set up direct deposit for the rent.

How do I do business in Canada from Arizona with a company that wants my products?
Q. I have a customer in Alberta that wants my building supplies. What type of company do I form in Arizona or Canada so that I can export my products to them over there? Also I want to rent a small warehouse and truck in Edmonton,Alberta where I can receive all of the matterials and go there once per week to deliver to job site. May need to hire one employee later on.

A. You do not need a new or special entity to ship to Canada. Contact a customs broker to get assistance. The broker will be able to assist you with the export paperwork, tariffs, freight forwarding. etc. You might have to adjust your pricing if the customer is expecting a certain price point due to any tariffs or freight that would not be included in your domestic pricing. If sales in Canada turns into something more than an occasional order, you might want to look at different options for structure. That would be a nice problem for you to have... Which Arizona university would be the best choice for a music education major?
Q. The ones I've been looking at the most are Northern Arizona University, Arizona State University, and University of Arizona. Academically, U of A seems like the best choice (of course, I'm only going off of what's on their web sites), but NAU is in a beautiful setting and charming community! Although it seems like there is a bigger culture and more music opportunities in the Phoenix/Tempe area. For some more background info, I'm a California resident and a music major (singer), hoping to transfer in Fall of 2010. Any suggestions and input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Asked by Brittany - Wed Oct 14 00:09:24 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. NAU is your choice without a doubt! It's the smallest of the Arizona Universities so you get a lot of one on one attention. Also, Flagstaff is a small town so there are lots of local bands and free shows. NAU has a great music program and a great education program as well. It's a beautiful campus and you will be able to really get to know your professors. Set up a visit to the campus and see for yourself!! Good luck!
