A. AIUI vb6 and visual studio 6 are not downloadable through MSN because they are so far beyond end-of-support. if you have the media, and you're an MSDN subscriber, you are still entitled to use it -- just can't DL it from MS.

A. Unfortunately, MS does not allow download of MSDN collection... So you can't get the help files for VB6. If your VB6 was official, it should have come with MSDN disk. You can claim it where you bought VB6. I use VB5 running in parallel: it HAS the help included... :-)

A. MSDN is a subscription service. And you usually have to subscribe, or purchase Visual Studio with an MSDN Subscription. Once you do so, you get new releases of Visual Studio for free! =) You get a lot of stuff free before anyone else gets it when you subscribe to the MSDN Library. But you CAN just use the online MSDN Library. I would recommend it if you don't have about $1,500 extra. =P I purchased Visual Studio .NET 2005 Pro + MSDN Premium. That was about $2,500. It about broke me. LoL. But an individual MSDN-only subscription is only about $199, which isn't too bad. It just depends on what you're looking for. =)

I want to download windows 7 from MSDN to upgrade from vista?
Q. I'm currently running a 32bit version of vista home premium on my sony vaio FW21E, with my university i can download windows 7 for free off MSDN so obviously im keen to do so... the download only seems to be available with the names "Windows 7 Professional (x64)" and "Windows 7 Professional (x86)" which i presume means 64 bit and 86 bit will this work on my laptop or will it not be able to handle the 64 bit version? i have 4GB of ram and 320HDD so no shortage of space... so the x86 one if i want 32bit and if i want 64bit the x64? will my machine run 64bit? and will it be any better or worse?
Asked by mike - Tue Oct 27 12:00:24 2009 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments
A. You actually want the 64-bit version. Sony cheated you when they sold you the 32-bit version because you're only using 3.5GB of your RAM (32-bit can't support that). Just note that if you want to use the x64 version of Windows 7, you'll have to do a clean install. By the way, x86 refers to processors that use the same instruction set as the old 8086 processors (and 8186, 8286, 8386, 8486, and then Pentium). The 8386 was the first 32-bit processor in the series and x86 now refers to the 32-bit version of Windows. 64-bit Intel and AMD processors are referred to as x86_64 (x86 with 64-bit extensions), x64 (Microsoft's name), AMD 64 (3 guesses who this is), and EM64-T (Intel)

What are some Windows 7 x64 RC1 download locations?
Q. I understand Windows 7 cannot be download anymore from the Technet or MSDN servers however they are still supplying cd-keys and such for people that have already downloaded it. The problem is that I need a download source, preferably not a torrent since I have not managed to find one that works, which will give a download location to it.
Asked by Kapacs - Sun Aug 23 19:52:37 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. It actually wasn't just available from Technet and MSDN -- it was open to the public via Microsoft in general. Since Microsoft is no longer providing downloads of it, there's no longer a reliable source. The RC is also unsupported and getting a little outdated now that the final version is just around the corner. At this point I'd just wait for the final in October. If you're a student you may be able to obtain the final already via Microsoft's MSDNAA program.

How do I download A trial of Microsoft visual basic?
Q. I'm doing really bad in this class and need practice. My teacher didn't give us anything to get visual basic with. I need the 2005 version if possible, if not then any version, I tried MSDN but All I got was a service pack. Please help.

A. I bought VB Express 2008 which is supposed to be written for Vista - didn't work, wouldn't load; took me ages and lots of download upgrades before I managed to force it to install. 2005. There is a reasonable working VB built into Windows (go to Visual Basic via Tools/Macros in Microsoft Word) it doesn't complile but is OK for playing and you can build some interesting stuff (as well as cocking up Word goodtime by re-writing a lot of its named macros). There are quite a few VB tutor books which include a CD with a free version of VB on. Borrow one from a library and install it from the CD before you hand it back. Bill Gates won't mind.

A. OK, before anyone tells me that this is encouraging copyright theft , it isn't. Microsoft made the latest MSDN library a free download in 2006. They are therefore unlikely to care about VB6 library which is now unsupported. So do a Google search for: torrent MSDN visual basic 6 or just msdn torrent

Where can I download Microsoft NT DDK for free?
Q. I want the NT DDK (Device Driver Kit) to write device driver software. I know i can get one from microsoft msdn, but that costs (at least the CD), and because im out of USA, i can't get that CD easily even if i wanted to. I just want someone to give me a link from which i can download the NT DDK for free.
Asked by mods_3 - Wed Aug 2 09:16:51 2006 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Then, my advice which is free and damn well worth it, is to try and dowload the current version of Windows (your favorite flavor) DDK. It may not contain much documentation, but it will contain MASM and most of the libraries you'll need to do driver development. Documentation for NT drivers are probably still available either from Microsoft or somewhere on the web. And the Java VM may be on the distribution, but I didn't get it with the download. The actual problem is that NT is no longer supported as a MS product. You could also take a look at the links provided at this site for MASM. One of these downloads might have what you are looking for as tools and then get docs as examples from Microsoft (MSDN) Knowledgebase. I hope this… [cont.]
