Is an extension of unemployment benefits really going to help the economy?
Q. With that logic, how about we triple the unemployment and imagine how much more the economy will be stimulated if that amount of unemployed will get a benefit extension? That would REALLY stimulate the economy right? Then, the people remaining that actually have jobs, let's tax the heck out of them to pay for all the unemployment benefit extensions. That would work, right? The rich didn't get rich by sitting on money, they got rich by investing it and creating businesses. I guess you wouldn't understand since you've probably never been rich. Sitting on money NEVER made anyone rich.

A. conservatives never look at the big picture any benefits paid out to the unemployed is put back into the economy and helps save OTHER jobs unlike when you give tax cuts to the rich and they sit on that money

A. You can get "3.5mm Mini Plug extension cord" for a few buck in any local RadioShack, electronicsstore or on the net. Here is one for $3.

When a neighbour is building an extension, is it a regulation that they have to be 1mtr from your boundary?
Q. I live in a semi - detached property where mine and the neighbours drive sit alongside each other. They are planning to build an extension covering their driveway, however is this legal to be right up to our boundary. Also if they have a window on this extension that overlooks our property, will this, in future, affect the value of our property if we were to sell. I am thinking that if any future buyers of our property where to consider extension building, would this prevent doing so??
Asked by andy4donna - Thu Jun 18 06:40:45 2009 - - 12 Answers - 0 Comments

A. I'd say all new developments would have that regulation apart from special circumstances, but in older homes like semi - detached properties it is very common to build to the boundary line. I'd have to believe by the way you have worded your question no plans have been submitted yet. If you have a problem your best bet would be to talk to them in how you'd like to see the project go ahead, after all you can reject any part of it if you wish and then they would have to hire a lawyer to fight your objections, which cost more than changing a few things around to make things good with you. You say windows looking onto your property might lower your properties value, let alone be distasteful to you, tell your neighbour they can have as many… [cont.]

Can i wire lgiht sockets to an extension cord?
Q. I was gathering information on how to build a reptile cage, and one of the obsticals would be lights/heat. Would i be able to wire a light socket or 2 to my cage using an extension cord as a sourse of power. I am planning on cutting the extension cord and then after wiring in the light sockets, planning on connecting the positive and negative ends to the extension cords and securing it with electrical tape. Would this be a bad idea? I cant find any information on how to wire 2 light sockets using a plug in type of method. Before you all think im crazy, i have a heat lamp for my reptile alright and it basically looks like a socket, with a metal dome over it and a cord running into the electrical socket. There doesnt seem to be any… [cont.]

A. The heat lamp example you use is great as long as you realize they are using materials properly sized and rated for the electrical current draw and high temperature that heat lamps can generate. The wrong type and an incorrectly sized cord can melt and burn or be a shock hazard. Additionally, you need to be careful about how the lamps are mounted to make sure they don't catch fire. Electrical tape all by itself for connections would not be wise. As a minimum you would want to use twist-on wire nuts, but better would be to buy ceramic light sockets at the hardware store that have screw terminals. You also need to make sure the lamps are adequately protected/covered so your reptiles don't climb into them and get fried. Your idea may… [cont.]

How long does an extension have to be up before planning permission is no longer required?
Q. I have 2 extensions on my house. One extension had planning permission but the much smaller one did not - the previous owners put it up. I am now selling up and am worried if this will be an issue with the new buyers. I think it has been up for around 6 years.
Asked by Anna G - Wed Oct 29 12:18:30 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. It won't come up unless you bring it up. So don't bring it up. It obviously wasn't an issue when you bought the house and won't be an issue when you sell. Technically it will be in violation as long as it stands. If anyone should ask, say it was done before I bought the house, so I don't know the history of it.

Can you use an extension cord for a refrigerator?
Q. I need to know if it is safe to use an extension cord on a refrigerator? Not a regular extension cord but a cord made for appliances.
Asked by jackcravelle777 - Wed Jun 27 08:22:13 2007 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Yes you can use a cord made for appliances as long as it is heavy enough. I would look for at least a 12 guage wire size if not a 10 guage. These are a fairly large wire size but the cost will be cheap as opposed to what can happen if you use a smaller cable. The 12 ga should be good for 20 amps while the 10 ga should handle 30 amps. Some may say you can use a 14 guage that is good for 15 amps but the price difference is not that much for a little peace of mind. Make sure you get one that has only one female plug on the end that way you will not be tempted to plug something else in with it.

A. The best figure i can give you to work from is 1200 to 1500 per square meter. This covers digging out and pouring new foundations, oversite, raising walls, roof on, and plastering. Electrics and plumbing are extra, depending on taste. It is known as the square foot super.

How to find out the extension of the video files downloaded from Rapidshare?
Q. I decided to download a movie which was in 7 parts. When I downloaded it from Rapidshare, the downloaded file didn't have any extension to it, so I gave it an extension of .avi and successfully ran the video. But the rest of the files I downloaded didn't run with the .avi extension, and once I gave them any extension, they can't be changed. Is there any way to recognize the extension of video files downloaded from rapidshare?

A. Click Start, go to Control Panel, make sure it is in Classic View (should say on the right which view it is in), and click Folder Options... Click on the View tab... There should be a check-box on that page that says: Hide extensions for known file types. Uncheck that box... Now, you should be able to see all of the extension file types... If this doen't solve your problem, e-mail me at rjsarratt@gmail.com

How to make your own extension cords?
Q. We need extension cords here and there around our home, but they always come in specific lengths that are almost always way longer than what we need. How easy is it to make extension cords yourself. Can I buy the parts and custom make the exact lengths I need? How easy is it?
Asked by j h - Sun Oct 21 11:43:13 2007 - - 7 Answers - 0 Comments

A. You can buy the parts and make up your own extension cords. But be aware that extension cords are a leading cause of home fires. The electric code thus states that "extension cords are not to be used in place of permanent building wiring." What that means is, they are fine to run a drill or a trouble light, but not to be used permanently or for long periods of time to power things that should actually be plugged into a receptacle in the wall. If you need a receptacle somewhere, have one installed. That is much cheaper than a fire.

how do I build an extension next to a party wall?
Q. I have a victorian semi detached house and want to extend out the back of the property. The extension would be about 10 foot x 10 foot and would be 2 stories. My problem is this... I have an existing party wall, where I ideally want one wall to be. Next door already has a single storey extension attached to this wall. The footings are no good, so I can't build on top of it , and can't use it for my extension. This means I need to come away from the wall to build a new wall, loosing space in the extension. Does anyone know how I can build as closely as possible to the existing wall? I don't have much room to play with so every inch is crucial!
Asked by Jonathan M - Tue Apr 10 06:20:49 2007 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. wow your neighbors problem is about to become your problem if you aren't careful the cheapest way to deal with this is to stay away from their wall. if anything happens to there property while you are doing yours, you will get stuck paying for. is the property so narrow that you only have ten feet at the width to do this addition. I would offset it by about 6 feet if you could. If you can't offset it, I would try to get them onboard with paying for underpinning their existing foundation when you dig yours. what a can of worms

How can I get my clip in hair extension to blend with my hair better?
Q. My hair is shoulder length and curly and my extension is human hair and straight. Its one whole extension that clips around the crown. I would like it curly like my hair so it blends better but even when I curl it with my spiral iron it still ends up straightening out. Any ideas?? Also, to get it to blend better, should I have it cut? Thanks! Where do I get blond, curly extensions? I've looked online with no luck!

How to file for an extension on taxes owed?
Q. I have already filed my taxes online and owe approximately $300. I quit my job last week and don't know if I will have that much by the 18th. How can I file for an extension on payment?
Asked by runnercaiti1 - Tue Apr 8 20:46:58 2008 - - 5 Answers - 1 Comments

A. With only $300 outstanding, do NOT go through the expense of a payment plan! You CAN ask for a 120 day extension of time to pay without the cost of setting up a payment plan. The IRS will still tack on penalties and interest for late payment but your total out-of-pocket cost will be MUCH lower than if you set up a payment plan for that small debt. Merely setting up a payment plan costs between $52 and $105, on top of the penalties and interest for late payment. Pay as much as you can by April 15th to minimize the fees. You'll get a bill from the IRS in a couple of weeks. Pay as much as you can then. If it's not paid in full the IRS will just send you monthly statements until it's paid. As long as you clear it by August 15th you… [cont.]

How do I make a tail extension for a horse?
Q. I have the horse hair that is ready to be made into a tail extension. Can anyone tell me how to make one?
Asked by APHA Girl - Thu Apr 8 13:07:12 2010 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. There's a reason those tails cost so much to buy already made up - they're a pain in the butt to make! I haven't tried to make a tail extension, but I've worked with mane hair to make various things, and it's a huge ordeal to get the ends together, bound in a way that will hold and can be attached the way you want, then if it is a tail, you still have to worry with keeping it from getting tangled or dirty. I made a functional but ugly extension for my friend's horse who lost all his mane and tail hair from some kind of toxic incident. I used fishing line and it was easier than using hair because I could just fold the length of line in half then braided small bundles into the few wisps of tail hair that remained. With hair you would have… [cont.]

Is there any possibility of an unemployment extension in my situation?
Q. I made a mistake in my last question in the "detail" section. I have been unemployed since August of 2009 (not 2010). I do not qualify for any of the present tiers. If the federal government approves an extension of unemployment benefits, I want to know if I will receive an extension, even though I am not "in" any of these tiers. I have exhausted my regular 26 weeks of unemployment, and I am nearing the end of my federal 20 extension. This question is based on IF an extension is passed.
Asked by djl - Tue Jul 13 09:28:40 2010 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. You didn't tell us in which state you are claiming benefits, so I'll point you to CA's website which gives an excellent explanation of what is happening right now. It also gives a list of all Tiers and how long they last. If you were accepted for benefits in your state, you will probably be eligible for Tiers when/if the Senate ever gets its act together. And if Sen. Byrd's replacement is ever named, there should be enough Democrats to get the legislation passed.

What happens when the Emergency Extension runs out on my PA Unemployment Benefits?
Q. I think I get Unemployment Benefits for 6months. Then there's a 3month emergency extension available for PA. Do I have to APPLY for the emergency extension, or is it automatic? Also, what happens once the emergency extension runs out? What do I do if I have yet to find a job in that time?
Asked by Teufelhunden361 - Mon May 4 18:22:55 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Unfortunately if you don't find a job before the extension runs out, you just don't have any money coming in. I am pretty sure you will have to file for the emergency extension. I would ask at the unemployment office BEFORE you need the extension so you can have everything ready to file if you need to.
