A. They're stooping to desperate levels calling him a muslim, criticizing him for not wearing a flag pin and saying his wife dresses to provocatively. Like Obama says "When they start bringing up things like this it just shows they've run out of negative things of substance to say."

A. Economy...McCain has better ideas here. Cutting taxes has ALWAYS increased federal revenue, but the federal government has always spent the increase and more. McCain wants to cut taxes AND cut spending. Obama and Clinton want to increase taxes and spending. This will reduce federal revenue by cutting jobs, and will send the deficit out of control. War on terror. Hillary and Obama are either foolish enough to cut-n-run in Iraq, leaving Iran to overrun Iraq and cause mayhem in the middle east. More likely, they are just lying about cutting out, and would change their tune after the election. John McCain is telling the truth about Iraq. We need to finish the job of training and turning security over to Iraqis, and that will take… [cont.]

What main ethical issues do they have in common?

A. Ohhh I love these experiments. My favorite ethical problem comes from a good story about the Stanford Prison Experiment. The only reason he ended the study early (it was supposed to run for 2 weeks) is because his girlfriend saw some videos of what was going on and threatened to leave him if he didn't end it immediately. It's a good question. How soon after you know that something is harmful to your participants do you need to end the study? How much harm is acceptable, if you think that the harm will be temporary? Would it have been ethical to keep the subjects for another week, and run the risk that things would have gotten really bad, since they could have intervened if anyone's safety was at risk? Should ethical issues in… [cont.]

Q. I can think of plenty of economic issues, but I can't seem to think of any political issues.
Asked by BenitoLim - Mon Dec 1 01:04:34 2008 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments

A. One major issue concerning the development and utilization of alternative energy sources is the lack of political will to support such endeavor. In the US, former president Bill Clinton did not submit the Kyoto Protocol (an international treaty which aims to reduce the collective emission of Greenhouse Gases in signatory nations) to the Republican-dominated Senate who opposed the abovesaid amendment. Environmental policies in developing nations, like the Philippines, are not adequate, as they permit multinational and transnational companies to deliberately exploit their natural resources for economic gain while disregarding local environmental policies. Which issues could improve commercial air safety most that are easy or cheap to implement?
Q. Ryan P said in a recent post; You seem to have a bit of an obsession with 'pax aircraft fires'. There are far more addressable issues which could easily save more lives.
Asked by stuttgart - Wed Dec 19 19:25:54 2007 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments

A. First, nothing in aviation is cheap or easy to implement. To get anything changed, first there has to be a NPRM (notice of proposed rule making) where the public has a chance to respond to (not including emergency rules), then a hearing on how the rule will be implemented, and to whom, and who may be exculded, then a benefit/cost analysis, then a meeting to address how these will be paid for, then a meeting with the FAA to get their feedback, then argued in court by the airlines because they dont want to incur any more costs that will take away from the bottom end, then the increased costs to passengers to recoup some of these new rules. But aside from this, there are a few things that could help, one is having more direct nav flights,… [cont.]

What is the biggest development issues in Indonesia right now?
Q. Would you say smoking prevalence and deforestation are the biggest developmental issues in Indonesia? I'd think so, since they don't seem to have any rules restricting children smoking, with all the news about the 2-year old smoking in Indonesia. And how about deforestation? Is poverty the reason why people still rely on mass cutting down of trees? Keep in mind the keyword, "developmental" issues :) - It might be more relevant if people living in Indonesia respond, but you're welcome to share your thoughts.

A. Well a good start would be to stop all the petty wars that are going on around the Globe. Some Countries never seem to stop fighting, and killing most of their own people as well. Words are better than Wars but it seems that they really do not know what that means. Lets face it they would fight over an inch of Land if they thought it was theirs, and then escalate it into a major war involving all of us. All these Wars lead to the poverty of people involved, and housing they live in no longer stand there., so these people suffer all the time and never have a life of their own. My employer issues paychecks on payday that can't be cashed for several days. Is this legal?
Q. I work in a tourist town and during slow times my employer issues paychecks that if cashed that day will bounce due to insignificant funds. It's usually only a day or so that you can't cash your check. Is this in anyway illegal? Maybe knowing that a check you've written will bounce or some kind of contractual violation in that we agreed upon a schedule date to be paid.
Asked by brad - Thu Nov 26 02:13:55 2009 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Writing a check with knowledge that there are not sufficient funds to cover it is illegal. It is also potentially a breech of your contract, if you agreed to a certain pay date and he in effect isn't paying you until after that date. You might want to ask him to give you money orders, because if this business goes under, your last pay is going to be nothing but a worthless piece of paper.

Asked by Elizabeth - Sun Jun 8 15:11:59 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Depends on why you're selling. Is it due to divorce and you have to split the assets? is it because competition by larger competitors has squeezed you out? Is it because you've spent 30 years (or more) painstakingly building up a successful business only to be told by your children that they have absolutely no interest in taking it over and can't wait for you to sell it? These circumstances shouldn't be called seller's remorse any more than the bank foreclosing on the home you lived in for 20 years should be called seller's remorse. What moral issues do vets face when an animal is brougt in and the owner cannot afford the medical bills?
Q. Hi my name is michelle and im currently Doing a yr 12 major on the moral issues vets face when they have to euthanize an animal because the owner cannot afford an operation or something similar. If anyone with experience with this could give me some information it would really help!! Thanks.
Asked by Michelle - Fri Sep 19 04:32:01 2008 - - 6 Answers - 0 Comments

A. I think vets become somewhat emotionally detached, as do paramedics, doctors, and nurses, to be honest. I'm saying this because I saw a program about paramedics last night, and they even admitted being 'numb' and being able to detach themselves from a patient- if you got too attached, emotionally, you wouldn't be able to do the jobs. Vets are the same way. Caring? Yes. But not emotionally invovled. I don't think they become...blunt, as in 'I'm putting your animal to sleep, end of', but they don't feel so morally attached to the situation because you can't get emotionally involved like that. You can't do the work for free or cheaper, so it's not really a moral issue- it's just realistic. Things cost money- anesthetic, x-rays, surgery time- [cont.]

Q. Distinguish between a core area and the periphery. How do the Issues of debt and globalization relate to these geographical concepts?
Asked by John - Thu Jan 28 21:36:21 2010 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. The core area of debt structuring, innovation (lol- read dodgy) and issuance is the US and some other G7 countries, particularly the UK. Global transfers of capital from borrowers to lenders washes through the major financial centres of the world eg. USA - with the USA being heavily indebted to China. Around the main debt issuance from the USA was also the massive growth of complementary financial products such as CDS -issued by companies such as AIG and others. These credit enhancement products made the debt issued out of the US appear more attractive- (aided by spurious ratings from the debt rating agencies e.g. Moody's and S & P). The periphery can be described as those countries that a) Purchase considerable amounts of debt issued… [cont.]
