A. The various Visual Studio editions are really geared towards .NET development for Windows platforms. To create a GUI, you would need to create Windows Form project in your preferred language (although if you're learning for the first time, I would recommend C#). Look into ADO.NET for sample code on connecting to databases. There are a lot of tutorials and resources out there geared for beginners. You can also looked at for detailed information on Visual Studio.
